Samsung is forming a new SOC development team for its smartphones!

Samsung has been making its own SoCs for a long time.  They designed their own customized cores in the past.  The performance of this core was quite good.  But the electricity consumption was very high.  Therefore, it faces overheating and performance problems.

Samsung has shut down its specialized custom-core development team based in Texas.  It continues to use the cortex core developed by Arm.  Despite this, Exynos SOCs perform poorly.  According to TheElec, Samsung is establishing a new SOC development team, which will enhance the performance and power efficiency of the Exynos SOC.

Samsung’s New SOC Development Team

Exynos SOCs lead with their poor performance.  Performance and power efficiency were extremely low compared to competing chipsets.  Some of the reasons for this are production techniques.  For example, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is manufactured by Samsung.  This SOC had overheating and power consumption issues.

Later, Qualcomm switched from Samsung to TSMC.  The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 had a much better SOC than its predecessor.  Its highly durable performance was excellent with low power consumption.  However, Samsung is facing dissatisfaction with Exynos SOCs.  Users were moving away from Samsung.  The latest information that has surfaced shows that Samsung has established a new SoC development team.

Apart from the Samsung MX (Mobile Experience) it had a SoC designed by a team called System LSI.  Information obtained by TheElec states that a new party has been formed.  Choi Won-jun, who joined Samsung from Qualcomm in 2016, is rumored to lead the newly formed team.  It has become clear that the new Samsung Galaxy S23 series uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.  While Samsung uses Qualcomm SOCs in its flagship devices in 2023 and 2024, it aims to use its own chipsets with customized cores again in 2025.  Everything will become clear with time
